Main => General Discussion => MMOexp-CFB 26: Elusive Bruiser—The King of Running Backs
Recruiting is everything in College Football 26. You can run the best playbook, dominate the transfer portal, and scheme better than Nick Saban and Lincoln Riley combined-but if your roster doesn't fit your system, you'll always be capped. Dynasty mode gives you complete freedom to build a program from scratch, and the smartest way to create a dominant team is by understanding which archetypes matter, how to scout correctly, and how to finesse the system to uncover generational talent hiding in lower star ranges. Today, we're breaking down exactly how to recruit the perfect offense in CFB 26-from quarterback all the way through tight ends and the entire skill position group. Whether you're rebuilding a bottom-tier program or reloading a powerhouse like Alabama, these strategies work for every Dynasty. Quarterbacks: The Most Important Position-and the Biggest Opportunity for Finesse Quarterback recruiting can make or break your Dynasty, and CFB 26 gives you multiple archetypes to choose from. The key is understanding that archetype matters more than almost anything else, even star rating. Why Archetype > Stars Stars help, sure-but archetype determines: Which core ratings a QB naturally excels in Which abilities they can unlock How they fit into your offense A 3-star ATH dual-threat QB can easily be better than a 5-star pocket passer if his archetype aligns perfectly with your system. The Best QB in the Entire Class Is Usually a 3-Star Here's the biggest recruiting finesse in the game: Sort QBs by ATHLETE ? add every 3-star ATH dual-threat to your board ? look at their "Playing Time" dealbreaker ? the ones with A+ are always the highest overall QBs in the entire class. Not "one of the best." Not "a sleeper." THE best. This A+ playing time trait consistently identifies a QB who comes into your program with elite ratings despite his 3-star label. Georgia and Alabama will ignore him because he's not a 4- or 5-star, leaving the door open for smaller schools to steal a generational prospect. This is easily the biggest recruiting cheat code in CFB 26. Ranking the QB Archetypes Based on performance, ratings, abilities, and development potential: 1.ATH Dual Threat - The ideal archetype: speed + throwing + perfect for modern offenses. 2.Pocket Passer - Surprisingly great; top-tier throwing and can still develop speed over time. 3.Regular Dual Threat - Solid, but not as dynamic as the ATH version. 4.Backfield Creator - Slow start, but develops well; still not ideal early. 5.Pure Runner QB - Limited passing ceiling; rarely worth building around. Bonus Finesse: Convert a Gadget WR Into a QB This trick produces a Lamar Jackson or Michael Vick-type monster: Recruit a gadget WR Look for 88-90 speed + 90 throw power Move him to QB He becomes a pure running archetype, but with way better speed and arm talent than natural runner QBs. One of the most fun ways to build an offense. Running Backs: Understanding a Crowded Position Group Running back might have the most archetypes of any spot in dynasty recruiting. Some are incredible; some look good on paper but fall apart in gameplay. Let's simplify. Archetypes to Avoid North-South Blocker Slowest RB archetype in the game Even with good abilities, the lack of speed is a killer Contact Seeker Supposedly the "power back" BUT cannot get the crucial Head First trucking ability Severely limits their ceiling Top RB Archetypes (Ranking) 1. Elusive Bruiser The most complete back in the game. They get: Head First Shifty Sidestep Break tackle abilities Good trucking Good speed Solid elusiveness They can do everything except be elite pass catchers. For most offenses, this is your RB1. 2. East-West Playmaker Perfect for outside runs, stretch plays, sweeps, and zone-read looks: Consistently high speed Access to Shifty (purple tier) Great COD and agility They're your homerun hitter. 3. Backfield Threat A balanced archetype that develops extremely well: Great receiving traits Solid elusiveness Good third-down option Not as explosive as the top two, but extremely reliable. 4-6. Everything Else North-South Receiver, North-South Blocker, Contact Seeker-usable but not worth building your offense around unless your scheme specifically requires them. The Gadget WR Trick: The Best RB in the Entire Game Just like the QB conversion, gadget receivers can become elite running backs with insane upside. Here's why: Cheap Upgrades At WR, upgrading "Power" costs just 4 points-and boosts: Trucking Strength Stiff arm At RB, that same upgrade costs 10-12 points. Same for: Elusiveness Juke Spin Break tackleMeaning you can build a super-back cheaply at WR, then transfer him. How to Build the Best RB in CFB 26 1.Recruit a gadget WR with high speed. 2.Upgrade him at WR for a full year (cheap attribute upgrades). 3.Move him to RB in year 2. You end up with a: 90+ speed High trucking High elusiveness Monster hybrid back nobody else has If you don't want to feel cheesy, skip this. If you want the best RB in your league, do it. Tight Ends: Avoiding the Trap Archetype Tight end is a sneaky position in dynasty recruiting, because some archetypes look good on paper but cap out low or develop terribly. The Worst TE Archetype: Physical Route Runner It sounds great-fast, good hands, strong route running-but has two massive problems: 1.Low overall ceiling 2.They rarely break into the high 80s 3.Terrible blocking 4.40s and 50s in run/pass block, with almost no upgrade potential If you run the ball even a little, this TE will ruin drives. The Better TE Options Vertical Threat TE Good speed Solid catching Decent route running MUCH better overall ceiling At least some blocking ability They don't get "Shore Hands," but the tradeoff is worth it for their versatility. Blocking TE The most underrated archetype in the game: Great run and pass blocking Often develop faster than expected Some end up with 84 speed and 88 catch ratings Perfect complement to a Vertical Threat Best TE Combination 1 Vertical Threat + 1 Blocking TE That gives you: A dependable receiving target A dominant run blocker Flexibility in every formation Final Thoughts: Building the Perfect Offense in CFB 26 Recruiting in CFB 26 is a mix of strategy, scouting, archetype mastery, and knowing how to game the system. If you learn which archetypes truly matter-and how to exploit the athlete pipeline-you'll consistently pull in elite talent even at small programs. The biggest keys to remember: Quarterbacks ATH dual threat = best archetype 3-star ATH QBs with A+ playing time = generational talents Gadget WR ? QB = elite runner-passer hybrid Running Backs Elusive Bruiser: Best all-around East-West Playmaker: Fastest, most dynamic Backfield Threat: Reliable third-down option Gadget WR ? RB = the most broken RB in the game Tight Ends Avoid Physical Route Runner Build around Vertical Threat + Blocking TE Follow these guidelines and your Dynasty offense will be elite, explosive, and built for years of domination in CFB 26.
